What participants are saying:
“Run to Write has been a lifesaver! Julie has created an environment that has fed my soul by reviving my joy in writing. The other writers bring life experiences and personalities across generations and interests, and arrive in a spirit of love and compassion that allows for fearless expression of authenticity. This is an experience to cherish.”—Leigh
“I’ve really enjoyed belonging to the Move. Write. Connect. group. It gets me walking in the morning with some wonderful people. After 30 minutes, we gather back at Freedom of Espresso for a cup of joy. It’s so cozy there, and it’s a warm feeling to gather together and write. Julie is an excellent leader and brings us healthy snacks. I look forward to Wednesdays to move, write, and connect. “— Karen
“I can’t explain enough how valuable Julie’s Move. Write. Connect. group has been to me since its inception. Putting shoes to pavement, a pen to paper, and then sharing thoughts or our work with an understanding community of friends has been a life-changer for me."—Tracy
“I joined the Run to Write writing group as a chance to meet other area writers and found a community of friends. Julie B. Hughes' idea that a person can be more creative after engaging in active exercise has proven itself to me over and over.”—Wayne

About Julie:When I started the Run to Write community in 2023, I wasn't sure if anyone besides my mom would join me.This idea was a gift that grew out of one of the hardest seasons of my life—my husband's cancer diagnosis. During that time, I recognized how much movement and writing were sustaining me. Beyond that, I felt the quiet power of community to keep me practicing both. I wondered: what would happen if I brought these things together in person?I'm so glad I took the chance. What I've discovered and what I hope you'll discover too is that moving outdoors, writing with a pen, and sharing our words give us courage and the will to keep going. We write fiction here, by the way, unless you say otherwise.I'm a licensed physical therapist and a writer, and I believe both movement and words matter for your brain, your body, and your heart. What I have now that I didn't before is a community of friends who show up week after week, from different backgrounds, with different stories and beliefs—and because of that, each person brings something beautiful to the group. It is a genuine delight to hear every person's words.
I pray this community continues for many years to come.Keep moving and writing,
Julie
